This sits very much in that refreshing range just done with largely wheat malt. No, because I hate the flavours wheat yeast throw.
Journeyman
Last night I tried the English Bitter bottled on 5th April. Very nice drop, good head and retention, smooth in the mouth and just the right bitterness - reminded me of some of the better beers I have in England. Forgot to get a pic... Tonight. Although I still think the APA is an outstanding beer - yes, I had one of those as well. Gave the missus a taste and she didn't want to give the glass back. 2

Otto Von Blotto
Maybe. I mainly brew and drink American pale ales and Euro lager styles, with my own red ale a few times a year too. More infrequent beers feature porters and stouts, English ales and the occasional IPA. Never have been a fan of wheat beers or the more funky styles.

It certainly is a distinctive flavour profile - and have got couple of mates who feel the same way as you do @Otto Von Blotto Kelsey.... is definitely a matter of taste.

Journeyman
This is the Strong English Bitter. Bottled on 5th April. It's not quite as dark as it looks - not a lot of light behind it and kitchen light on behind me. But a very nice drop. Between that and the APA I don't know if either batch is going to make it a month on the shelf. Now to get the next brews in the FV - bottled the stout yesterday and got XPA v3 to bottle today then 2 new brews in. One will be that APA again.

Greenyinthewestofsydney
Witbier side by side. Mine is using MJ witbier. Colour is perfect. Bitterness very close. Hoegaarden has a little more lemony taste. An extra 10gm of coriander and i think it would be an extremely close representation. Mine was added late in the boil. I wonder if they dry hop it with coriander to give it that little extra zing. Might have to give it another go.

Saaz will actually give you a lemony hit suited to this style provided you don't leave the dry hop in contact for more than 2-3 days where it can create some unwanted harsh tones. Lemon Myrtle also comes to mind as a natural additive in this style of beer that works well. Smaller doses of more modern hop varieties may also be worthy of consideration. Lemondrop comes to mind, & is quite potent in this area. Cheers, Lusty.
Otto Von Blotto
None of my own but got Young Henrys newtowner and Budejovicky Budvar in the fridge. Kegging a batch on the weekend and pitching tomorrow's batch early next week, so I'll have some in about 3 weeks.

I really liked Coopers Artisan Reserve and remember chasing it around the country within Dan's - and spewwwing it was only available still at one bottle here or there around Australia.... then realising it was only a special release - gave up chasing.... but that was before I stumbled upon the All-Grain pathway to excellence ; ) Would love an All Grain Coopers Artisan Reserve recipe ha ha Maybe @Beerlust Lusty might have something stosched away somewhere for us? Schäff worked out he could sell Springwater from his Spring and make a fat load more dough bottling water that than having to find malt and hops and brew and compete in the Beer Market. From memory this was a malty Munich type Lager and he had a Pils as well... ah well. Is still a nice Germanic Ceramic : ) But prettttty blooooody sad after having brewed great beer since fkkkkn 1364 eh.... the price of progress... mmm.... nasty business. But I guess progress has also meant we can all brew AG beer at home and emulate those good brews that only specialists did in the past.
