MitchBastard
Howdy, I gave biofine a go this time around. I’m yet to bottle but am just wondering What constitutes as “thoroughly stirring in” As per instructions. I didn’t really want to keep the lid off for too long, nor did I really want to use a spoon to stir up the beer. I used about 7ml for a 23ltr batch as their guide was 5-20ml (not a great guide imo) and just dotted it around as evenly as I could. TIA
Otto Von Blotto
I dunno, yet to try it but will get some next trip to Craftbrewer. I usually stir the beer gently avoiding any splashing when I add my current finings, just enough to get it moving around a bit so the stuff disperses pretty evenly through it.
MitchBastard
I forgot to mention I gave the FV a light swirl Once the lid was back on so we’ll see how it goes
Otto Von Blotto
Look forward to seeing the results. I won't be using it for the next few batches as I still have some polyclar to use up.
MitchellScott
I must say I'm pretty impressed with what I have seen so far of Biofine. Might have to get some for my next lager.

Otto Von Blotto
How'd it turn out @MitchBastard? I put some in my red ale on Friday (in the fermenter), looks to be settling out really well. Kegging it Thursday. Did a great job on this ESB

MitchBastard
@Otto Von Blotto here’s my biofined lager. Definitely not as clear as your red. Will definitely up the dosage next time.

Well I figure the dosage rate is such a wide range that it doesn't really matter too much. Might get a syringe next time though just to avoid tipping too much in. ben 10
So, if in the FV do I wait until the beer is finished? Will it work if I don't cold crash? Should I only do it in the keg then?

I threw mine in on day 2 of CC. when I keg my Asian lager that’s fermenting I’m going to CC, keg and add bio fine at the same time. dunno bout it if it’s warming what happens
Otto Von Blotto
I just add it the same as the isinglass and polyclar. A day or two into the cold crash. It's worked well on the two batches I've used it in so far.
