Cosmo2450
Finally pulled my finger out and got a fridge set up with the stc1000 and whatnot. Now ive had it on all day to reach temp and it didn’t want to go below 25 or something. But it felt proper cold inside!? Got a second opinion and there is a 15 degree difference!? Who do I believe ? the second photo says 27. 8 hours later the second opinion is 10 and the stc is around 20?
Marty_G
I would suggest that the controller needs to be calibrated.
Journeyman
^^ What Marty says. Should be a function on there to check against a known good thermometer and reset the baseline.
Otto Von Blotto
There is, but it's a huge difference. Usually they're only out by a degree or two. I usually borrow dad's old glass lab thermometer to calibrate the controllers, it's highly accurate. It's in Fahrenheit though so some conversion required
BlackSands
My controller was 0.7ºC out, so yeah I think some calibration is perhaps not uncommon but in this case it's is a pretty big discrepancy!
Cosmo2450
This is this morning. I’ll check out how to calibrate. I hope my yeasties are okay
Otto Von Blotto
Calibration is the same as setting the temperature, just click the button until it says F4, then adjust it until it agrees with the other thermometer.
James Lao
One way to check the calibration is to get an ice slurry in a pot and put the probe in the slurry - that should be close enough to zero and do the calibration function as mentioned above on the controller. Smitdog88
Hey mate, i work in kitchens and we have to check out thermometer callibtrations. i would check your "digi-thermo' and go from there to check: step 1: get a bowl of water and ice, (mostly ice, you should get a reading of 0deg C to 0.9 deg C. this i would call an accurate thermometer. Step 2: is in boiling water on your stove top, should read 99deg C to 100 degC. (the boiling has to be pretty rapid, and it sucks to check because you burn your hand holding the thermometed there. if you know the accuracy of your digi thermo, then you can use that to adjust the stc.
