DonPolo
OK so I did a back to basics brew of simply an APA can and the kilo of Brew Enhancer number 2 as per directions. Ian H's spreadsheet predicted a final gravity of 1.11. OG was about 1.40 as predicted. Fermented at about 18C. 6 days later I did a test and the reading was 1.15 so a bit high and there was quite a head on it which look quite a while to clear and bubbles rising quite rapidly (fizzy). Now after 8 days it is reading 1.10 so about right. However in the sample there is quite a bit of effervescence almost like the finished product poured into a glass. I'll test tomorrow again just to be sure but I haven't seen this effervesce before to quite this degree. Is there anything I should know? Not used BE2 before. RepSpec
I dont use BE2 but use LDM and Dextrose. I got similar readings. I thought (like you) mine was finished after day 6, but checked my other readings and they were out. So i left it (again, like you) for a couple of days and it was where it should be. This was using US05 though.
Otto Von Blotto
It's pretty normal for the samples to be gassy. Bump the temp up a bit, give it another 2-3 days, then take another reading. If it's still 1.010 then it's done.
