muzzag
Hi all you expert brewer's. I've been brewing a double batch of kit n kilo of late in my temperature controlled fridge, with good results, but today as I was taking the first hydo reading,I noticed that the two identically made brews were quite different to taste, one was sweeter, the other slightly bitter. They are both 1.7kg ruby porter, with 1kg ldm in 23ltr @ 18.5 deg C. Could it be that there is a difference in temp between the top and bottom of the fridge. The sweeter batch is at the top. This is the fifth time that I've done 2 brews at a time,(draught, european larger, stout and old dark), and I've not noticed a difference before. I'd appreciate your views/advice on this. Cheers muz
Beerlust
Hi Muzzag. What was the specific gravity reading of each beer? Was there a difference? Cheers, Lusty.
muzzag
Yes, the sweeter brew is sitting at 1012, and the slightly more bitter brew is at 1010. By the way the pic is not of the current two brews. Muz
muzzag
By the way, both brews ended up at 1010, and tasted the same when I bottled them, so I will confirm a false alarm when I sample a bottle or two,in a couple of weeks.
