MitchBastard
Howdy, tomorrow I’m going to do the steam ale from the recipe section. https://www.diybeer.com/au/recipe/steam-beer.html it calls for S-23 at 18 degrees. Being a lager yeast, we know what it’s ideal temp is. Should I stick to the recipe or run with the usual 12degrees I assume the higher temp is to purposely produce some esters? Hairy
If you ferment it at 12° then you aren’t making a steam beer. Stick to the recipe. Edited July 18, 2019 by Hairy

Well that’s what I figured. Just thought I’d ask as there are a few things you find through certain recipes which are better off ignored.

Best at least first off, to follow them to the letter if you want the desired outcomes. Many the fool has decided to disregard aspects of the DIY recipes, then complained afterwards about THEIR outcome not tasting like the recipe promised. What it promised NON-CONFORMIST is based on you following the recipe ya dumb@$$!! Simples! Cheers & good luck with your brewing of this recipe. I've brewed this recipe & it turned out great & to style by simply following the recipe outline. Lusty. 1 1
