Krausen reduction/removal

Malter White

Recommended Posts

I toyed with the idea of buying another Coopers FV so I could double my production. However, as I brew in the kitchen, much to the wife's chagrin, I thought it'd be unreasonable to have 2 FVs going in the kitchen. Solution: I bought a 60 litre FV in the style pictured.
The Coopers krausen collar is fantastic invention but obviously I won't be able to use it in the 60l FV.
This is where I seek to pick the brains of you lovely folks out there. Do you have any tips or hacks to reduce or remove krausen? Or do I just have to suck eggs and clean it off at completion of a brew?
Thanks for any input.

Muzz.

I've never ever worried about removing krausen.  I'm not aware of any reason for doing so...?

I'm pretty sure it's purely for aesthetic reasons but it makes me feel better to have a "clean" looking brew.

White Paint?  Just paint a collar around the outside.

Our living room / kitchen / dining are all one room, I have a 60 and 3 30 liter fermenters going now along the half wall.  Wife only complains if I don't pay rent on the space.
