Titan
Hey guys, first time using rolled oats. Did an english bitter partial mash last week Saturday or Sunday. Was expecting this to be done but my sg is at 1.020. Thought it had stalled but would have been the first time a notty has stalled on me. Anyhow i pitched the kit yeast yesterday morning but still no further action. Now im beginning to think that the viscosity that oats bring to the table is pushing up the sg. All my equipment says its done. Plaato, Tilt and hydrometer thats been sitting in a sample for 2 days and hasnt moved. Even the taste is dry. Any thoughts? Otto Von Blotto
You'd think that would be enough to convert the starches. I don't know mate, never used oats in a beer
Beer Baron
I use oats in my beers regularly and just add them in the mash and always hit gravity targets
Titan
Must admit this was 5 points higher than expected and current sg is 5 points higher. Im calling it done. As other brew i did same day is done and i need to cold crash. Should be little consequence as it will go in a keg so no risk of bottle bombs. Another beauty of kegging.
