Gday all.just made a hoppy pale ale,the one gash from cellar dwellers made.anyway it was a bloody hot day yesterday in nsw.i waited for the southerly change to hit before i got started.when i sprinkled the safale us 05 in it was 28c and slowly dropping.it took 4ever to drop below 24.yes i forgot to mention i emptied out my kitchen fridge and put the fermenter inside.i woke up around 230am and checked the temperature. It was between 16 and 18c..i panicked abit and took it out and stuck it under the stairs. Anyhow its been about 18 hours.no sighn of any action on top yet,iam abit worried i killed the yeast first up with the heat or it went to sleep when it was chilled.iam i worried for nothing, need patients or ive buggerd the brew,.any thoughts out their would be much appreciated..Cheers..

Don't panic yet. One of my first brews I added the yeast at 28c (can't remember if it was Cooper's yeast or US-05) and it was okay.

US-05 takes a while to start but I'd expect it to be active soon.

18c is the ideal temp for ales, by the way.
