Lab Cat
Bottling the Lightning Strike this weekend. Course, I can never seem to get all the right hops for some Coopers recipes, so this one is EKG/Cascade. Light bodied, but nicely bittered sample. Next up is Mex Siesta - another kit I haven't tried - I did pretty much all pales and the odd lager last year. Again, I can't get the recipe hops, so using Cascade/Lemondrop and double the amount. The recipe 25g isn't likely to do much, the cerveza is obviously a corona clone and I want to make sure I get a light summery brew - with flavour. My plan was to do 10g of each for 10m, then flameout the rest and steep it for 30m. Any thought on that schedule? Spudley
Brewed Brew Dogs Dead Pony Club yesterday , a light Session Californian style IPA, Recipe calls for a lot of dry hop 187.5 gm in total Something light for after work when its hot. 3 kg Extra Pale Ale, 630gm Caramalt, 190gm Crystal Malt, Simco Citra 5gm 60 min, Simco Citra 5gm 30 min, Simco 50gm, Citra 75gm, Mosaic 62.5 gm Dry hop 4 Days SafAle US05 Yeast Should work out to 3.8% ABV , 35IBU, Missed my target OG by 3 points 1037 Recipe called 1040, Well see how it is in a couple of weeks
Norris!
I put this down today 4kg Barret Burston pale ale malt 800g wheat malt 800g oats 10g Columbus at 60 min 15g mosaic, galaxy, and amarillo each at flameout 15 min steep 15g of MGA each cube hopped 50g of MGA each dry hopped. I might do 65g of each dry hopped but we will see how the samples taste. The recipe called for a 300g dry hop, I might do up to 250g but I just see diminishing returns at that rate but I might. 10g/l is my limit and honestly I think 7.5g/l is pretty nice and about the sweet spot for my tastes, but I might follow the recipe, I might not..I should. Lallemand east coast yeast at 19c with a d rest a day. Target OG was 1.048 I came in at 1.048-9 so very happy with that, at 23l it just filled the cube. The recipe called for 20l at 1.052 but I don't have 20l cubes so I pumped it up to 23l. Depending on how this tastes, If I was to do the 300g dry hop I would probably increase the abv to 5.5 or 6% but I am just talking out my behind here as I haven't tasted the finish product yet, just speculating really. PaddyBrew2
How’s the MGA combo mate. Sounds very interesting. I’m throwing down a brew next Saturday and looking for some ideas. I want to do a hazy IPA. I like NEIPA’s but I want a bit more bite in them in terms of bitterness I’m hoping it will also be the first brew I’m gonna keg as I reckon I will put my order into keg land later this week

I feel the same about NEIPA, well some, where I think they need more bitterness, this is why I added a little to the cube, it won't be much of a bitterness increase but it should help. I reckon it will be a nice brew to keg there. Ready quicker and without the secondary ferment. Good luck Mate. Norris 1

squarerootnegative1
I'm running a test for a japanese miso beer. I have two going, one with the cooper's amber ale and one with the coopers APA. So far, running with ~5% the malt in weight in miso paste (a white miso mixed with enough water to make a less viscous paste. My goal is eventually getting an 'Aka' or red miso lager). My aim was to brew something similar to this. The first APA (just 1,4 kg APA in the craft brewer series) with about 70 grams of miso has a nice, surprisingly smooth flavor with a nice body! I'm still new, so this is my first recipe outside of just brewing cans of the stuff in straight up. I picked up a can of the Amber Ale select today and can't wait to give it a brew

PaddyBrew2
Pretty smooth brew day. Finished a point up on 1.062 OG all in all took me four hours as I cubed it until tomorrow. I suppose you’re not meant to no chill a NEIPA but bollocks to style guidelines 3
