Dry ingredients alternative

Recommended Posts

Good day

I purchased someone the beer DIY can as a gift.  I thought it contained everything needed.

What can I use as an alternative to the dry ingredients mentioned in the video?.  I'd like to get this at a normal store if possible.

Thank you

Hey Piet, Welcome to the forum. Just to clarify was it the Craft DIY Can? If so you just need the can made up to 8.5L. Or is it the Regular / international / Thomas coopers range ? You can make ( thou not advised) these with regular sugar .. it will give you a beer of sorts. But depending where you are some shops sell the Light Dry Malt or Brew Enchancers other wise I recommend jumping on Google and searching home brew shops near you .. hope this helps.

Thanks everyone.

@Smashed Crabs  It is the DIY coopers Lager can.

I gave it as a gift to someone outside of Australia in a regional area, so my only source is the nearest supermarket.  How would I use sugar to make the dry ingredients and how much.

Appreciate your help thank you.

Sugar is used in the same way as the brew enhancers and dry malt etc. but it doesn't make a very good beer. Better off sourcing some light dry malt or a can of liquid malt extract.

Dan Murphys also carry a range of brew enhancers and light dry malt, as do Woolies, albeit in a much reduced stock these days.

Failing that, you used to be able to buy Cans of Cornwalls Malt Extract from supermarkets.
