Beer Baron
I’m not a big fan a dark beers but I made an oatmeal stout for last winter and actually enjoyed it quite a bit. It came in at 6% and I was already thinking about my 2019 stout and started researching today and came across someone who brewed a stout with Cadbury Creme Eggs. He said the fats in the eggs didn’t affect taste or head retention I love those little eggs but unfortunately they are only released early in the year so it got me thinking about using chocolate bars in a stout. I want to make a Mars Bar stout to come in around 8% and leave it to age until next winter. After researching I think I will add them into the mash. What does everyone think?? Otto Von Blotto
From recipes I've seen of adding actual chocolate, it usually goes into the boil. I read one on the Craftbrewer site that had either one or two 250g blocks of dark chocolate in it. I'm purely speculating but I wonder if chocolate in the mash would affect the wort draining from the grains?

Hairy
Sounds interesting. I have never brewed with chocolate before. Let us know how it goes (in a years time). You could always eat a Mars Bar whilst drinking a stout.

Maybe I will have a bite of a Mars Bar and then a mouthful of stout at the same time!!
Otto Von Blotto
Just melt the Mars bar down and pour it into the glass and fill with beer
