What other hobbies do brewers have??

Had a hit at Redcliffe today. Didn't score that well (102), but I did have a better day with the driver. Only one wild slice, the rest were either straight down the middle or pushed to the light rough close to the fairway, usually right. I did also manage a trick shot somehow, hit a bit of a hook into a tree that ricocheted straight across the fairway but had so much spin on it that it drew back to the middle 🤣

Tried some different balls as well, and I think I've found the ones I'll stick with from now on. Low spin on longer shots but good control on approaches and chips to the green, had a few that landed and only rolled a couple of metres. All in all pretty happy with my game but definitely can improve.

went for a ride in Marg's today up on the trails.

Had so much fun. got some good jumps in and cleared some table tops. For my first down hill mountain bike I thought I did quite well. Such a good day out.

Did they actually let you take the money? Heard a few complaints on the radio the past few days of people being offered cashouts then having their accounts frozen.

I actually have a Sportsbet account but I only opened it to have a go on the Melbourne cup last year. Haven't used it since 🤣

Yeah, I've heard some horror stories also. In the scheme of things I think $2K is relatively small compared to some of those stories. Usually the stories are about 5 and 6 figure sums.
They paid it immediately and I banked it soon after.
I only invested $9 so I only got 33%. The actual dividend was over $6K.
I'm interested to see how future bets are processed though. In the past when I've had a win and go to place bets the odds suddenly drop, even though those odds hadn't changed for hours beforehand. It's actual scam they do. A guy exposed it on the ABC news website a few years ago. He had two accounts. One was a winning account the other not so. Placed the bets simultaneously on two separate devices and wouldn't you know, the winning account said, "odds decreased", the other account placed the bet without issue.

Nice result mate. Love my sports accumulators so im saving my money at the moment. 😆

Thanks, Greeny. I don't often punt during the week but my wife wanted to back a horse that had been previously agisted on her dad's property. So to keep her happy I put some money in the account 😄 (her horse ran 4th coincidentally),  and I had a couple of bets of my own. Not bad from a $20 starting balance. 🙂

Had an interesting round of golf today at Gailes. Hit 100 so a bit better than last time. Aside from this 95m sand wedge approach I hit a drive into a bird flying across on the next hole and somehow still wound up 200m down the middle of the fairway, and holed a chip from the rough a few holes later. Then hit a drive next hole left into the trees and it ricocheted out into the fairway. Also hit a drive into a tree that bounced back about 70 metres into a water hazard, so a bit of good and a bit of bad 😂 but enjoyable arvo overall. Heading to Oxley on Monday, aiming to hit under 100 there.

Hit my best round (since coming back to the game) today at Maleny golf club, 88 off the stick (+20), won the day with 49 Stableford points thanks to a handicap of 32 which is clearly inflated 😂 I hit it pretty well today and got one nearest the pin, just let down by putting, which was difficult on the greens there. Still pretty happy with the round though. It's a nice course up there, different to the usual here, kind of like a UK style links course.

I've also decided to become a member of my old work, Oxley golf club. They have a cheap annual fee option and I can just pay a reduced fee each round I play. Will be good to get an official handicap and also have a chance to play more on the weekends that the social club isn't on.

Nice one Hairy. What did you get?

Yep still ride, been falling over in the mud a bit lately which hasn’t been great but still fun. I take my boy out riding most breaks if he’s not tired. Been getting up to collie and down to Margs lately. Been heaps of fun getting lost in jumps and massive burms. It’s great.
Think I gotta upgrade to some shin/knee pads after the last effort. Took some bark off me leg when I hit a tree.

Full suspension is the way to go for the riding I do. Hard tails have their place but if it’s bush riding then yeah ya can’t beat full suspension I think.

I went for a Polygon Siskiu T7; pretty similar specs to the Giant Stance.

The hardtail has copped a beating in the bush. A hard ride but still fun.

I live across the road from the bush with trails so it’s easy to get out for a ride. I have been working from home for months now so I can do a quick 10km ride at lunchtime.

Looks like a reallly good bike with that similar suspension set up as the specialised.
Man I’d love to live that close to maintained trails. But still good to get out and about on the bike.
Let us know how you go over the next few rides hairy, I’d love to know how you go after you’ve broken her in and adjusted her a little to suit.

Hobbies... aside from beer and winemaking.  Hmmm....?  What were once hobbies are now my only source of a very modest income in the absence of a 'real job'.   Photography is of course one of those and while there's no money in it generally, unless you're into weddings etc which I'm not, but I have been lucky enough to get some commissioned work over the last couple of years shooting what I prefer to photograph - landscapes.  And I also got lucky with John Sands publishing (Melbourne) three years running now, who publish a calendar of my work: "NZ Scenic" available through all the usual retail outlets throughout Aust and NZ.  They don't pay much for the 12 images but it's certainly better than nothing!

I also run a small recording studio at home.  I'm a 'singer'/songwriter, musician, producer and audio engineer.  Have a few regular clients who have recorded a lot of work here over the years and have 14 album releases of my own - and, just like photography, there aint much money in it!  😄

As a homebrewer I guess I'm a starving artists who never goes thirsty.

Actually, my latest obsession is health... or lack thereof!  I've been doing the obsessive weight-loss thing for 9 months now, counting calories and working out daily.  It's all somewhat incompatible with beer consumption but I do account for the intake and have subsequently been brewing lower ABV brews as well.  I figure if I run for an hour that earns me a couple of beers! 😄   My weight had crept up over the last few decades, well above recommended levels, along with high blood pressure, elevated triglycerides, border-line cholesterol, pre-diabetic etc - you know, the usual later-life catastrophe!  30 years ago I was active in triathlon and related sports and have a couple of marathons under my belt.   I thought it might be a worthwhile challenge to try get fit and thin again, one last time before I eventually die of some horrible disease!  🤪     -15kgs so far...
