BlackSands
My brewing set up itself doesn't take up a whole lot of room being BIAB in an urn. The urn and all the salts and other stuff all sit neatly together on a 3 shelf trolley about 1m long and 350-400mm wide.I guess if I sold my wife's car I'd have more room in the garage! It's the malts and the cubes that take up more room' date=' as well as my hops having a dedicated drawer in the freezer that sits next to my brewing area. [/quote']I don't keep my own stocks, apart from small packs of left-over hops. I buy my ingredients on brew day!
Otto Von Blotto
If the shop was next door to me I might do that too depending on the ingredients, but since I start brewing around 8-9am I really can't be arsed driving anywhere to buy stuff prior to it, especially since I drive 8 or 9 hours every day at work during the week . I usually go down and mix up any mineral salts then add them and the strike water to the urn and heat it up while I have brekky, then go and mill the grains after I eat. Aside from the convenience factor of having all ingredients already here, it's also cheaper to buy grains and hops in bulk, but yes room is needed to store them of course. Having a grain mill does make that easier too though, as the grains can be stored in buckets or whatever and just milled as required on brew days.
