  1. Yeah I just cracked one only bottled it Thursday and it tastes amazing .... but I reckon maybe 2 months from now it will taste even better .... good answer Greeny , I’ll lock up the cupboard .... but would be the optimum time I could leave it for , like if I went away for work for a year ,would it be ok , just dont want to waste it jackamundi
  2. Hey guys , just bottled a Guiness Clone on Thursday , what’s the optimum time to let that sit in bottles ... I could put up my recipe that I did , but sampled some of it and it was awesome.... keen to do more stout varieties, love a stout ... cheers , jackamundi
  3. Hey guys , I did a lager after my first Aussie Pale ale that turned out awesome , my first ever Home brew , so I was super stoked... I did the lager and had to come back to the other house and totally forgot about the brew I put down , it had been in the fermenter for a total of 20 days , OG was 1038 and FG was 1010 , giving me 3.65% before bottling ... just wondering what the ideal time is for lagers to sit in the fermenter and would 20 days be ok still ? Cheers , Jack
  4. Thanks BB and PB2 yeah actually over filled the cylinder ... dropped it in and it sank faster than the titanic to the bottom .... so I poured that sample out and did another one and the same thing happened .... I think I’ll just bottle it in 2 days so I don’t get any bombs like Mitch said ... fermentation has definately slowed up , next to no bubbles creating now ... and no surface foam ... cheers , Jack
  5. Thanks Mitch , ok I’ll leave for a few more days cheers , jack
  6. Hey fellas , super new to this brewing thing .. I’ve hit day 7 of the Aussie Pale ale and I’m wondering when I can bottle this .... the plastic hydrometer I got with the kit is doing some extremely weird stuff , I watched the video on the reading part and twisted in the testing tube to get out any bubbles , however my hydrometer just sinks to the bottom and stays there , I’ve read into this and people have recommended getting a glass one ... would it be ok to bottle today and start the second stage of its fermenting in the pet bottles cheers
  7. Great , thanks for the info fellas ....
  8. Hey guys , bought one of these brew kits the other week and I’m on day 5 of the brew fermentation ... my question is do I need to sanitise the bottles straight out of the box or is it ok to just fill these up when the brew is ready to be bottled ...? The fermentation has really slowed down now and I’ll do a hydrometer reading tomorrow ... thanks in advance jackamundi
