  1. Already started brew day. Will be finished and packed away by mid afternoon. Then I can watch some of the pre-game. Can't have anybody over here in Melbourne. Might see if I can call in a few mates via Zoom and have a virtual party, while watching the game. Not fussed who wins, like Muzzy, I just want a close game. If Dan says we can have beers with our mates on Sunday, he'll be lynched. PS - Go Storm!
  2. I fill two of these with tap water (after sanitising them) and put them in the fridge the night before brew day. Really handy for getting hop/grain boils back down to pitching temperature quickly.
  3. Coopers Recipe Spreadsheet - 20 October 2020 - The Voyage bonus edition Hi Team Latest Coopers Recipe Spreadsheet is attached. I have added The Voyage Recipe Packs Coopers Recipe Spreadsheet V2.10.7.xlsx Spreadsheet functionality: You can click on the recipe name to jump to the recipe on the Coopers website (for those in au only) The little triangle icons beside each column title are auto-filters and can be used to sort the spreadsheet by the respective column You can also use the drop boxes of the variables in each column to show those variables you want to see. For example, under Difficulty if you choose the Easy variable then only those recipes rated as Easy will be displayed Or under Can 1, if you choose OS Real Ale only those recipes that have the Original Series Real Ale (as the main recipe can) will be displayed. Unfortunately I am not clever enough to be able to show those recipes where Can 2 is a Real Ale Any queries? Post them to this thread.
  4. Sue's Seahorse Kolsch - Memorial brew for my sister's passing on 12 September 2020. Sue's daughters named the brew. Sweet aroma. Hints of fruits and floral. Flavour is a really nicely balanced combo of malt, spice, apple, light bitterness. I like this beer. PS - Thanks to everybody for the kind words over on another thread where I posted about Sue's passing.
  5. Hi @Coopers DIY Beer Team, what are the plans for distributing these pack to other retailers?
  6. Agree with JM. I have an Amber Malt can with 205/19 on the base. I am pretty sure it is a Julian Date Code, like their yeasts. Best Before will be two years thereafter. This one would be 24 July 2019
  7. Just looking at it is making my mouth water. It is a glorious colour and haziness.
  8. Hi Fergy1987, try this: Next to your site name click on the drop down arrow and click on Account Settings Select Notification Settings Make sure "Send me news and information" is checked.
  9. Hi JimmyBeerBro, No. 2 first: I used bleach for a while in my PETs and in my FVs. I left it in them both typically overnight and rinsed the next day. I never noticed off flavours or chlorine/ammonia smell in my beers. This does not mean it does not happen, but it never happened to me. No. 1 second: I obviously rinsed after using the bleach solution. However, I did sanitise before use with a phosphoric acid based no rinse sanitiser (which is close enough to what Starsan and Stellasan are). But I get your question about: Is rinsing so bad if we are going to put 20 litres of tap water into the FV anyway. The issue might be that after a bleach sanitise, it is recommended to let the equipment air dry (to evaporate off any bleach you may have missed). It is this air drying time during which undesirables could land in your FV. Upside down airing will help reduce this risk. At the end of the day, get some no-rinse sanitiser when you can and you will not look back. It does not have to be the well-known Starsan either. There are other options out there as I mentioned above. Any reasonable local homebrew shop will have something. Unfortunately, Coles does not stock it.
  10. Maybe they will be free delivery when the ROTM come out and delivery is free for a week if you order over $100. Getting two of these packs delivered free would be just too easy.
  11. Agree with @Bearded Burbler. As long as you let the boiled hops steep as long as your hop tea, the boil will get a bit more bitterness by comparison. Give it a try. It is not likely to ruin your brew. Maybe split the brew if you can. Do a hop tea for one half of the brew and a hop boil for the other half. Best of both worlds and you can taste test the difference.
  12. I did a simiar grain bill in one of my earlier brews. Bittered with 20g Magnum @ 60minutes minutes; 20g Cascade, 20g Chinook & 20g Columbus @ 5 minutes; 30g of each of these as a dry hop. You could replace the Cascade with your Citra for a nice beer. BIAB is generally a no sparge method. However, you could sparge with a slightly cooled kettle worth of water like @King Ruddager does.
  13. Pretty sure it would work. Not sure what effect you would get, compared to other dry hopping methods, if any at all.
  14. Maybe we are over-thinking things. But thinking is about building knowledge. Following recipes produces good results. Understanding recipes can produce better results. I have taken a look at the Coopers Recipes that use the Coopers Commercial Ale (CCA) yeast. It does seem like the CCA yeast is pretty good. For the filtered and sorted list you can see it is used on its own for all but one brew up to 6.8% ABV. Brews above 7% ABV, mostly the Coopers Vintage Ales recommend both the CCA and brew can yeast. If you plan to use the CCA yeast for the Hazy IPA recipe, I think it would be enough. Although I am not convinced that the Lallemand New England yeast packet on its own would be enough. It would be interesting to get some other feedback.
  15. I have an iSpindel on the way. Next will be a pressure fermenter - Fermzilla or similar
