  1. I never have a carb problem if I use BE2 with the tin of goo. Enlarging on that: can of APA, 1kg of BE2, 500g of LDM to boil the hops in, US-05 yeast, 2 carb drops in PET bottle, leave for a month if you can.
  2. Wipe off old yeast and sediment with cold water and cloth then (like Shamus) I use Aldi Di-San Pro Oxy, one lid full added to fermenter full of cold water and soak for around two hours. Rinse out fermenter with hot water and store.
  3. I'm not a newbie but I always like to reply after receiving help here..
  4. Thanks fellas. I'm inclined to think it's not entirely necessary to remove the ring.
  5. Is it necessary to remove the tamper proof ring from the neck of the PET bottle before using the caps a second time? Some brewers say the ring stops the cap from tightening down properly again.
  6. "Therefore, using the BE that is recommended for the particular beer & adding 500gms of malt will give the best result." The above line is so true. The main recipe I use requires 1kg of BE2 and 500gms of LDM and can of Canadian Blonde. The 500gms LDM is used to boil the hops with. The head on the glass never fails to impress. I leave my bottles for around 30 days before drinking. Here's the recipe if interested: https://www.diybeer.com/au/recipe/helga-s-cool-kolsch.html
  7. You can buy stainless steel mesh cylinders at eBay which are ideal for dry hopping.

    Temp.

The general rule is around 12c for lagers and 18c for ales using the correct yeast. Just repeating that you need temperature control for decent beer.
  9. You can see if it's fermenting by the activity forming on top. US-05 yeast (for example) takes about 24 hours straight out of the packet.
  10. Coopers would have to be the most prompt where product delivery is concerned. I ordered 3 x PET bottles on Thursday and got them on the following Monday. Well done Coopers.
  11. Okay. You could be right, Coopers.
  12. Well that's a turnup, my anti-virus doesn't like the aussie brewmakers site.
  13. Hi Brewers 1.Does anyone have a Balter clone recipe in kit form? 2. Anyone tried THE VOYAGE: AUSTRALIAN PALE ALE? https://www.diybeer.com/au/recipe/the-voyage-australian-pale-ale.html Cheers
  14. Hi Brewers Does M54 California Lager Yeast give off a banana aroma during fermentation?
  15. No , just wondering what the difference would be.
  16. Hi Brewers Can you use an ale yeast and ferment a lager (fresh wort kit) at 18deg?
  17. I don't have anywhere to store it cold so I hope the cupboard will do at room temperature? On second thoughts, I could store it in my fermenter fridge for 2-3 weeks before it's time to put down another brew and then in the cupboard?
  18. Forgot to ask, how long before I can drink my lager? Is 4 weeks long enough in the bottle?
  19. Thanks gents. I pitched a dry packet at 23 deg and it took all day to drop to 12 deg. I looked at it next day and it was working well. Cheers.
  20. Hi brewers First time doing a lager (fresh wort kit) with Morgans Premium Lager Yeast. The packet says sprinkle yeast over wort as long as the temp is over 20C. As lager is best fermented at 12C, I thought this was initially a bit high ?? What do y'all reckon?
  21. Especially this bloody winter. I've had to invest in a heat belt.
  22. Thanks for the replies. All good for a rewireable plug from Bunnings.
  23. Hi Brewers Further to my first question titled "Cold fermenting", I've acquired a heat belt. I need to cut the 2 pin plug off to run the lead through the fridge drain hole. I'm finding it hard to find a rewireable 2 pin plug so can I use a 3 pin plug?
