  1. The other keg has the Real Ale that I dry hopped heavily, I am surprised it is not cloudier. I think it will clear up considerably, I am happy so far. Cheers.

  5. Post inspired by the recent pics of kegs repurposed as urinals. Recently visited a country pub in Victoria where they'd repurposed a few old kegs as their outdoor seating. Great idea. Love the stage too.

  6. been a bit lazy and yet to start a brew this year but at a recent friend's birthday i got to talking with one of the guests that was an all grainer.. and then one of my mates piqued up with a bit of interest that i've been homebrewing so they're coming over on sunday and i plan to do one of the two ROTM kits i have lying around and one of the FWK cubes to fully demonstrate the ease of getting started. and whilst i have some labour here learning on the job so to speak, time for a good keg and keg fridge clean

  7. First try of the Black Rock Miners Stout with a kilo of Stout Booster, 500gm LDME US-4, Yeast Nutrient. It is very nice for only 4 days in the keg, rich, dark, smooth with roasted malt flavours, nothing like Coopers Stout but a pleasant change, a lot of coffee notes & a nice bitter finish. It would be great to age but as you can see one of my neighbours like it too. {sad face}

  8. DID I TELL ANYONE I WON? Oh what a day@golf, my game felt like crap from, tyhe moment i woke up but the end score didn't reflect that .. i am not going to do a hole by hole thing or show ya my card unlike our pro golfer @Otto Von Blotto well i thought wewas going to have a long day i played with a 12 year old and 60 year old i love playing golf with juniors as the swing pure and this lad was no different and i felt for him having to play with guys 3 times his age and more the junior and my self got lumbered with a 38 handicapper, this is the 1st person i have played with (not seen or heard off) with 3 shots on 2 holes and he wiped his 3 shot holes. not judging the guy because when he hits a straight ball he will out driver Tiger woods ....but heck when he stuffed up he stuffed up , had to call for the fire brigade because he was creating fires with his worm burners into the rough still with his bad shots he kept up the pace of play i won on a count back having 36 points as the guy played bogie on last hole and my par in the end just pipped i had a great day 36 points played to the cap 18 on the front 18on the back cant be unhappy

  10. Lūbeck Stout is a nice dry fullbodied Oatmeal Stout, for my liking a bit too dry, but easy drinkable

  11. Black Princess is a Brewery in Petropolis in the hills north of Rio, producing beautiful crafted beers. „Back to the Red“ is a red ale in the Vienna Lager style, 5.5% of fullbodied deliciousness. Going really nicely with the charred Vegies from the charcoal bbq..As you may see also went through the keg of Heineken as well, it was surprisingly nice.

  16. A bits and pieces brewday today, using up some grain and hops. I guess that it will be an IPA of sorts. 65.4% Coopers Premium Pale Malt 24.5% Simpsons Maris Otter 6.7% Weyerman Carapils 3.4% Voyager Heritage Rye Bittered with Magnum, whirlpool/late Mosaic and Strata. I will probably dry hop with Astra and Enigma. It will be fermented @35° with Voss Kviek. Mash underway. Boil. Whirlpool/late additions. I cubed the result and was hoping to get it in the fermenter today but it is still too hot @ 52°, even for Voss Kviek so probably tomorrow morning. Hit the pre-boil gravity but I haven't checked the post-boil gravity yet, but I am not expecting any surprises.

  17. Checked my waimea pale ale and it's down to 1.012 after 72 hours which should be close to FG . Verdant certainly gets it done. Was hoping to dry hop with 6 points or so to go but have thrown them in. Taste of the sample was nice but definitely not a wow. Maybe after the dry hop the waimea hop will excite me a little more. Will do another taste test each day to see how the dry hop coming through then keg it off when I think its at its peak. https://community.diybeer.com/topic/17033-brew-day-what-have-ya-got-2023/?do=findComment&comment=281467

  21. After shopping I called into the local for a couple of the monthly specials, today SA Pints of Carlton Draught for $5.50, the 2 Coopers tap decals show Coopers Mild Ale 3.5% for $8.50 & the Stout for $10.50 - bugger that. They also have Pale Ale on another tap bank & they are $9.50. That is one of the reasons I don't go to the Pub much these days.

  22. Well, I was watching Tulsa King with old Sly Stallone (doing great for his age) and the TV gave up the ghost! Should I get a new TV to keep everyone happy or do I spend the money on an all grain brewery setup?

  23. Thanks mate, my pleasure, I was looking to see a photo of some of them in in the licensed venues in Whyalla. I agree they did come up a treat.

  24. I do, very much. First used years ago ad I gave a bottle to the bloke organising grain buys for us. He liked it so much it went into the first beer her brewed for the brewery he opened and has been a staple ever since. It's an amazing grain and brings a little something special to a beer.

  25. For a guy that was a cook in the military you're not very good at taking orders, Phil. That bowl clearly states "PASTA" on it 6 times and you've put rice in it. FFS!

  30. Chucked down a Coopers APA, BE2 on top of the old kveik voss yeast cake - the no clean method . Heat belt set to max, bubbling away within an hour at 35ºC. Second one in the fridge (all cleaned ) Morgans Royal Oak Amber with BE3, 500g dex and CCA yeast. Not sure what this will turn out like, maybe like a kilkenny as the recipe sheet says? I have my doubts but we will see.

  31. This Kolsch is at day 9 of fermentation, and it’s achieved the stable gravity of 1.012 which was the target, but my past brews had some very light bubbles on top at the end whereas this has what looks like a layer of trub sitting at the top? Will this layer drop to the bottom or has it not really finished fermentation yet perhaps? Also does the hop bag/sock usually float? I expected it to take on water and drop down but it has floated on top for a few days now.

  42. Different course time today over at Virginia, although I am familiar with it from playing there in the social club. Couldn't get the pace on the greens today though. I was picking the line reasonably well but leaving a lot of putts short, including this eagle chance on 13 still not too bad a day, was hitting it fairly well but 35 putts was pretty ordinary, I'm usually around 30. GA sneaked down to 8.9. Tomorrow is a 4BBB so won't affect the handicap. Getting a bit of rain currently so hopefully it softens the greens up nicely. Thursday a regular Stableford for my last day of holidays

  43. OK a simple fish curry, nothing too exotic but it's got plenty of ingredients & bloody hot, even the coconut cream didn't temper it very much, but it was nice. 1. Frying off the Ginger, Garlic & Curry Powder. 2. Sautéing the vegetables 3. There you go.

  44. None around within 200km. I reckon my best bet would be to call coopers themselves and ask why. Maybe they are strategically keeping it for the Adelaide market :D. I will keep a look out for it, but at this stage it looks like I will be brewing my own

  45. no, in brisvegas. Can get the XPA from time to time, I have been searching for the blue can for a while now. Green cans, stout and mild and sparkling ale no problem. I thought it may have been a seasonal release.

  47. As far as I know all NZ manufactured beer cans are made at Speights in Dunedin. That include Mangrove Jacks, WilliamsWarn, Black Rock, Brewtec and Lion. Purchased this one from my local supermarket.

  48. First kit/extract bew for 2023. Picked up a Lion DA cheap so why not? Paired with 1.5kg LME, also discounted. I introduced a little extra bittering, courtesy of a short boil of 20g Green Bullet as the DA can is only 16IBU. And then, a 50g dose of Taiheke steep/dry hops. Kveik Voss fermentation @ 35ºC. Because of the discounts it actually works out cost-wise pretty much the same as my usual AG batches.
