    It's Kegging Time!

I started keeping track of my gas tank purchases quite a while back to gauge how long they last. At the time I felt there were some inconsistencies as to how long they were lasting. I didn't know if I had a leak or there was something up with the tanks themselves as I was purchasing from two different brew shops. I use the 2.6kg tank size & get 11-12 kegs/brews out of them. That is using it for cleaning, carbing & dispensing. My current run is up to 11 kegs & still going, although the tank is certainly light & not far away from requiring a refill I suspect. I queried one of the suppliers I was purchasing tanks from & tracked my last purchase from them. It only lasted 9 kegs/brews. I no longer purchase tanks from them anymore. Cheers, Lusty.

Brew Day!! Watcha' got, eh!? 2018

Chinook is an excellent hop. Particularly in Pales & IPA's. It's almost a mainstay in my fridge these days. Cheers & good luck with the brew, Lusty.

Pretty much. +1 to what Shamus said. Just be aware of some of the risks of re-using yeast as opposed to using fresh yeast. I like to pitch my saved slurry into a starter first, prior to pitching it into a full brew wort. By doing this I'll have some early indicators if anything is wrong with the yeast before ruining a full batch. If you time your starter process right you can pitch the yeast from this starter while they are still in an active state which can reduce lag times with the main brew wort, that is always a good thing. When starting out playing around with yeasts it's worthwhile having a look at the Mr. Malty Yeast Calculator to give you some idea of what is required to be pitched into certain brew original gravities across the differing yeast bases. Re-pitching from slurry has the most variables, thus is the most inconsistent & unreliable of the three. Now I know why Otto Mann & Disco Stu were never in a Simpsons episode together. 🤣 I think Ben10 recently brewed a lower temp fermented Saison to eliminate the funk. I can't remember how he said it turned out. Cheers, Lusty.

Brew Day!! Watcha' got, eh!? 2018

Will probably do this one today or tomorrow. Really enjoying the chinook peppery/spicy bitterness. Along with these two other hops I think will be a great contrast.

    Moving day

The new house settled yesterday, so moving all the bulky and other important stuff today. Weather is so far looking after us. Also found the perfect spot that will fit two ferment fridges, right next to a power point, winning. We went around last night with the dog, I think he likes it. First thing he did in the yard was a big dump, then he went and jumped in the bloody pool

I have a porter recipe that reminds me of that Jack of spades one. It was another one of those fluke recipes that turned out so well the first time that I never changed it. Unfortunately I won't have the computer set up with internet access until next Friday unless I can find a black box or something in or around the house that they can activate remotely. Much easier to copy paste it that write it out on a phone

It might be easier to just dismantle it. Probably due for a dismantle anyway lol

are they pet bottles? you can degas them over a few days to reduce this issue. are the bottles cold? moving forward.... what was the recipe? are you sure it was finished fermenting? how much priming sugar did you add?

Mate, remove the disconnect then blow some co2 back through the tap. It should dislodge anything stuck at the tap.
  23. So was that the first or second lifting of the grain bag?

    What's in Your Fermenter? 2018

Sounds good to me. I did find the craft kits I did (grand total of 2) had a higher perceived IBU than similarly IBU 23l kits. But recipe looks the goods.

Keen to try an all grain version, but don’t want to go nuts on my first ag batch. Have a nice little AG Blue Moon clone to try in slot 1, and then have a go at the porter after that. Just doing a couple of 11l BIAB batches in my $20 bigW pot to see how it goes before the slide into the rabbit hole. It can’t be that big a leap from a 30 min grain steep....

    Vienna Lager

I ordered my ingredients for this brew. I went with 100% Vienna malt and I haven’t used Hallertauer Mittelfrueh hops so I thought I was give those a crack. I totally forgot that the kids start school holidays this week so I’ll be brewing with them running around the yard. BB
